about

i currently live in france.

i arrived just as covid was beginning, which in hindsight feels like excellent timing or very poor judgment.

before that i spent five years in new york (2014–2019), where i made two short films: expanded metal and sovereign blue and met my wife clara. that part worked out pretty well.

originally i studied biochemistry and worked in a research lab in brooklyn. science was my first interest, but the industry was not. i left in 2019 — dramatic at the time, inevitable in retrospect.

i later completed a master’s in computer science at georgia tech, with a focus on ai. my favorite courses were operating systems and computer graphics, which says enough about how that specialization went.

around that time, cinema became a central point of reference — through kubrick, eisenstein, and others. it eventually pulled me out of the lab and into making films, and later into imagining new spaces for them.

i designed and built timesink presents, an online cinema for curated releases. it brings a sense of occasion back to watching films, even at home, while making the act of showing work more accessible. Closer to what musicians have with stages and venues, where films exist in front of an audience, not just inside a catalog.

i care about making things. films, images, and writing.

i have two boys, ezra and orson, and a dog named mingus.
